The Urban Composter system contains two parts, a composting bucket with a tap and a lid with an tight air-proof seal. This is critical as oxygen can not be present during the anaerobic fermentation process. Scraps are added to the bucket at regular intervals and organic Compost Accelerator Spray is applied to start the fermentation process. Every couple of days excess fermentation liquid (or juice) is drained from the bucket using the built-in tap. This liquid can then be diluted with water (1:100) and applied to gardens or flower beds as a nutrient-rich fertiliser. Once the bucket is full, it is left to ferment for an additional 4-6 weeks in the bucket, draining the bucket of excess moisture every few days. The pulp from the bucket is then added to a pot of soil or an empty garden bed to continue to break down into compost.
